In 2014 Wilsons stardom exploded across the pond with greater prominence when she agreed to star as a character on Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled woman who has a past of dark who falls for an unmarried man called Noah Solloway. The show that also stars Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson was a hit among viewers and critics alike and won Wilson the Golden Globe for Best Actress in an Television Series Drama in 2015. Wilson said to British Vogue that she enjoyed acting in two viewpoints. Noah believes that Alison as this confident reckless sexually attractive version of her. But in real life Alison sees herself as being dowdy. She said: I think America has become so moralist and judging that the events in this show appear to be shocking.
